World Conservation Congress?

Is anyone from Greening Tourism attending the World Conservation Congress in Barcelona?

Are there any Facebook or Flickr groups for the World Conservation Congress? Any RSS feeds? We'd like to keep track of the Web2 applications.

Hi Ron,
I'll be following the World Conservation Cogress but I will not attend it. It runs just 300 meters from my office and I will keep track of it.
Kind regards

Are you participating in any of the congress? Any of the parallel events? ... Are there parallel events?

There are lots of parallel sessions but especially dedicated to tourism I only found a session on Thursday 9, 14:30 PM called: "Travelife - Helping Tourism businesses to improve their sustainability performance and increasing the opportunities in the global marketplace" held by the federation of Tour operators.
I won't be able to attend it because I'll be in Madrid in a meeting at this time, but I hope a colleague can attend this session.

Australian wins Kenton Miller Award for Parks Innovation
Barcelona, Spain, 6 October, 2008 (IUCN) – An Australian academic has been rewarded for his international efforts to make nature conservation in national parks and reserves more effective. Dr Marc Hockings from Queensland University has won the prestigious Kenton Miller Award for innovation for developing methods for park managers to evaluate if actions are really achieving conservation goals.
His methods have been taken up by such bodies as the World Bank, WWF and the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.

The award was presented at the World Conservation Congress in Barcelona held every four years by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Some 8,000 global delegates are gathered at the Congress, including 50 Australians. The award was named for Kenton Miller, one of the foremost global figures of conservation and a former Director General of IUCN who also presented the award.
