Looking for Best Practices in Greening Tourism

Waste Management

Governments are spending lots of our taxes to manage the excess of waste production. Since some decades, governments have convinced companies and individuals to manage their waste in a way that recycling becomes easier and cheaper to the community. Recylcing is key to sustainability, but it means in many ways supplementary energy consumption, that has to be added to the initial energy needed to produce packaging, for example, that is one of the principal components of waste.
Tourism industry is producing tons of waste, and local citizens have to pay for the management of this waste. It seems obvious that each one has to assume the costs of recicling his waste, and this would probably lead us to a eco-tax discussion. Shall local communities ask for an eco-tax yes or not?
We don't want to discuss this issue in this section (the interested people can open a discussion in the forum area), however here will added be the best practices in Waste Management.
